Celebrating World Whiskey Day in Utah may sound like a tough goal, but we're here to enlighten you. However, surprisingly it might become harder to celebrate World Whiskey Day in the coming years everywhere. Did you know the global supply of single malt scotch whiskey is running out? In a recent article published earlier this year on Huffington Post, prices of single malt scotch are skyrocketing as the demand for this long-aging spirit are outpacing supply. Perhaps it's due to the rise in appropriation of turn-of-the-century, old school sensibilities to our modern life like beards, elaborate mustaches and good strong liquor, in addition to the increase in want of western culture items from foreign markets that can explain this exponential demand. This lack of supply could last upwards of 10-15 years while whiskey makers shuffle to keep up with demand. But rather than worry about tomorrow, let's focus on how to celebrate today. The holidays are here and we are basking in the glow that surrounds the season: family, friends, giving to those in need, and giving thanks to our many blessings. Of course, we are also basking in the soft glow of light from our lovely Christmas tree lighting our entry. Rustic Christmas decor

It's National Hot Dog Day and we couldn't help but think more about that American staple, the quintessential summer menu item - the hot dog! Culturally imported from Germany to early America, the hot dog was sold as fast and cheap working class lunches off street carts in large cities. Over time, the simple yet yummy treat became associated with summer, baseball and Americana. There is no definitive knowledge of how the hot dog got it's silly name; many instances of the word duo referencing this form of sausage consumption can be found in publications dating back to the late 19th century. As the hot dog spread across the country, variations invariably sprung up to match the unique flavor demands of each region. How many hot dog varieties can you think of for each part of America?

With July 4th this weekend, we are at the height of summer. I am in heaven! While the 90+ degree days can wear you out, there is always a general eagerness for a delicious barbecue with your family and friends. Whenever I go to a barbecue at my parent's house I always have one request... Will mom be making potato salad? I am in love with this potato salad and I recently asked her for the recipe so I could share it with all of you! This potato salad is to die for! In essence: burly and rich from olive oil and mayonnaise, and brisk from pickles. If you forgo the hard boiled egg you don’t know up from down. Prepare it a day ahead for it's at its best when well-chilled and left to meld. Even better, it's easy to make! I’d walk you through it, but you know how to make this: Boil the potatoes; toss; mix; do as you do. Potato salad’s beauty is not in its technique. You’d be smart to make it for the Fourth, and every week thereafter, until the temperatures drop and the sun shines shorter. Always make extra -- you’ll want the leftovers -- and then spend the rest of the day outside. A note from mom: "enjoy!"
